Brattleboro Youth Civic Engagement Drive

BYCED works to get teenagers involved in Brattleboro politics. As soon as you are 16, you are eligible to vote in town elections, attend town meetings, and run for select board. Teens younger than that can serve on certain town committees, volunteer as poll workers, and speak at select board meetings. Keep reading to learn more about how you can get involved as a teen or adult ally.

Dude, are you registered?

Voting can be important for people for lots of different reasons. It could be to keep the government accountable to the people, to make sure that someone's beliefs are represented, or because it is empowering.

If you're 16, you can vote in local elections! To register, all you need is some kind of identification. That could be a drivers license/permit, or even a bank statement or utility bill. You can register online at https://vote.vermont.gov/public/dashboard, or even at the polls: you can register the same day you vote!

Remembering to vote

March is a busy time for a lot of high schoolers. If you'd like a text or email reminder when elections are approaching, please enter your email or phone number below. We will reach out to remind you three times – once when mail-in voting opens, once a week before elections, and once on election day.
